THE FORMULA/COMPETITION
Tournaments are significant to the players and the coaches. Only during the competition, we can evaluate the technical, tactical, movement, and mental skills. Based on matches, we can observe the player’s total development. Results don’t lie, so they help us determine the developmental goals, tournament schedule, and instrumental help to adjust the Periodization plan.
CONCLUSION
Competition and sports are closely related. It is natural for young players to compete. On the other hand, competition is essential in adult life, so it is beneficial to teach young players to compete. Tournaments have a lot to offer in the development of future champions on and off the court.
The natural competitive desire that young players have has to be exploited through healthy motivation. Young athletes must avoid external pressure, especially from the parents.
